Information for Trainers

L2L’s free peer tutoring program helps Canadian children and youth to overcome academic challenges, develop important leadership skills, and build networks to support their future success. L2L Trainers are a fundamental component of the L2L program, providing students with training to help them develop the skills they need to effectively tutor their peers.

What do L2L Trainers do?

As key members of the L2L team, L2L Trainers deliver tutor training, support School Coordinators with the implementation of peer tutoring sessions, lead review sessions, support data collection, and collaborate with School Coordinators and L2L staff to ensure the success of the program.

Trainers have a passion for learning and for helping others, are creative problem solvers, and believe that all students can succeed under the right conditions.
Relevant experience includes classroom teaching, positions in school leadership, leadership development training, knowledge of Multiple Intelligences, Learning Styles and Mindsets.

Frequently asked questions

The L2L program model is simple and flexible. The following 4 core elements are common to every program:
– Students receive 2-3 hours of tutor training from an L2L trainer
– Tutors complete a minimum of 10 hours of one-on-one peer-tutoring sessions
– 1-3 group review and debrief meetings take place between L2L tutors and trainers
– A final celebration and certificate distribution ceremony is hosted to celebrate student success!
